Possible Athletic Complex

PHILIP BARBOUR (BARBOUR COUNTY, WV)

In all of Barbour County, WV (about 2000 square miles), there is only one High School for approximately 800 students. Therefore an athletic complex is needed.

The bleachers alone, for 3000 seats, cost approx. $225.00 per seat to construct (400 seats can be constructed at a time). This does not include additional site work like a stone base under the stand, grading, fencing, walkways leading to and from the grandstand, the main electrical feed to the press box or the final electrical hook-up.

It might be possible to construct the complex in five phases:
  • Improve the practice field inasmuch as the cost is small compared to the rest of the complex.

  • Install necessary drainage and complete the Baseball Field

  • Construct the Football field including bleachers, an eight lane track, paved parking, a concession stand, fencing, and a field house with storage for equipment.

  • Complete the practice field. Construct another concession stand, extra restrooms, bleachers for the band, a gated concrete entrance containing donor recognition stones, additional parking, and pave the road leading in from the State Highway. Add a Soccer field, spruce up the softball field and its facilities, and begin the planning of a regulation swimming pool building.

  • Construct the regulation swimming pool building. Add a Cross Country Course, and do the landscaping.
